Hydraway Versus other Drainage Systems

There are several French drain options available on the market today. However, none compare to the compressive strength, guaranteed results, and as shown in the video below, in-flow rate. Flow ratings are only a measure of how quickly water flows from the pipe. A more important question to ask is, “what is the in-flow rate?”

Helitech’s Hydraway Compared to Other Drain Systems

System Flow Rating/Linear foot Per (ASTM 4716) “In-Flow” Rating (or Permeability Rate) in % of the openings across the surface 4-gallon Bucket Test (Time elapsed in seconds for water to empty)
4″ Perforated Pipe 32 gal 4-5% 27
Gravity (WaterGuard) System 8-9% 23
Hydraway Single Layer 10.5 gal 75% 11
Hydraway Double Layer 10.5 75% 6.5

Helitech’s Drainage System Hydraway VS Perforated Pipe

Below is a photo of a failed perforated pipe system (left) that has been clogged and caved in because of its lack of strength. Hydraway (right) has high composite strength due to its polyethylene core. Hydraway’s unique design allows for 85% available open space for water intake. Take a look at the chart below for more comparisons between traditional perforated pipe drainage and irrigation systems, and the industry-best Hydraway system.

Perforated Pipe Hydraway Drainage
Soil Infiltration Easily Clogs Will Not Clog
Labor Labor Intensive Quick Install
Open Surface for Water Intake 4% 85% (open on all 4 sides)
Draining Speed Slow Rapid
Average Trench 8″ wide by 12-16″ deep 3″ wide by 9″ deep

Our experiences with Helitech have been very positive, especially on the heels of some bad contractor experiences! Mark Keleher was such an awesome front person to work with at the QCCA Expo Home Show! He has a wealth of knowledge under his belt and really knows how to work with people! He came to our house and took pictures and was very good about giving an accurate estimate while explaining all of the details of the project. Mark called a few times to check in on us before Charlie and his crew came out and worked very professionally. I had originally taken the time off to watch the progress and to make certain things were on the up and up. Within about an hour of talking to them and Charlie carefully explaining down to the last detail what would be
done, I was certain we had professionals in here! It was fun to watch the progress of the basement and I checked in every so often just for my own knowledge.

We were so concerned about the water issues that had been created from a poor job on a cement front porch. After the guys were here, it completely relieved the pressure on the walls, the sump pump and eased our minds completely! We would highly recommend Helitech again, and wouldn’t hesitate to call them if we had any other issues
