Homeowner Searches for Basement Repair in Marion, Illinois

This particular client’s residence experienced storm damage in 2009. The client hired E.A. Knight Construction (Marion, Illinois) to rebuild her home.

E.A. Knight Construction contacted Helitech and asked what we could do about repairing the basement.

Southern Illinois Storm Damage Causes Bowing Basement Walls

The home had been damaged by several large trees causing the basement walls to bow in.

The 2 closest walls to where the trees landed were 3 to 4 inches bowed in; the 2 that were on the other side were about 1 inch in. Not only were the walls damaged, but the footing drain had also collapsed and there was water seepage in the basement.

Solution:

Helitech installed 13 wall anchors, tar membrane, and pulled the 2 walls back. On the other 2 walls, Helitech installed 14 Carbon fiber straps and 6 crack repair kits for stability. At first, the client did not waterproof the basement because she thought that the water was due to the power outage. However, when the water continued to seep, she realized that the footing drain was not functioning and decided to install 144 feet of drainage.

Tony S was personable, professional and walked through every step of the way. Everything on the job went smoothly and in a timely manner. George W, Joe M and Pat W were also on the crew
